Tyre / Sidon / Byblos (Ancient Phoenicia)
The Phoenicians, a Semitic people residing along the coast of modern-day Lebanon, Palestine, and western Syria, are known for their maritime prowess, trade networks, and the establishment of thriving city-states. Tyre, Sidon, and Byblos are three of the most prominent among these city-states, each with its own distinctive history and significance.
Strategically located along the eastern Mediterranean coast, these cities benefited from their access to the sea, facilitating their growth as significant maritime and trade centers. The hilly terrain behind them provided a form of natural defense and separated them from inland powers.
